Biography

Australian-born Joyce Chahine is a classically trained pianist, collaborative artist and teacher. She holds an Honours degree in music, majoring in performance, from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (University of Melbourne). Joyce’s commanding stage presence and appetite for artistic collaborations have propelled her diverse musical career thus far.

Alongside her solo, duo and chamber endeavours, Joyce actively participates in musical productions as a repetiteur and keyboardist. Past solo recitals have been held at Deakin Edge, Melba Hall and St. Paul's Cathedral.

 

In 2017, Joyce teamed up with cellist Joshua Dema and co-founded JUO. Their debut concerts have been well received and they continue to perform in contemporary spaces around Melbourne. In 2018, Joyce and Jordan Yeates (piano) co-founded Hoddle Duo in hopes of delighting audiences with incredible piano repertoire for four-hands. The pair won the first prize in the Melbourne University's Piano Duo and Duet Competition, with their interpretation of Brahms' Hungarian Dances.

Aside from performing, Joyce has also written compositions for a short film directed by Phelon Manski, 'If A Girl Falls' (video can be found under Projects) which premiered at the Made in Melbourne Film Festival. She also has a background in event management and marketing, having helped curate and co-manage the highly successful Melbourne Big Band Festival in 2016.

Joyce aspires to create a varied and fulfilling career in many aspects of music. She also holds a strong passion for R&B, jazz, soul and funk music and enjoys producing music and beats, whilst creating content for her Youtube channel.
